awful to be late!! Its an Amazing Grace!

. . . .

Amazing. It's the only way to describe the incredible transformation that took place in the life of John Newton. Newton was born in London in 1725. His mother died when he was seven. His father sent him to sea at age eleven. Working first as a cabin boy and then a deckhand, John was exposed to a life of drunkenness, profanity and immorality — and he embraced it. Soon, John surpassed his peers in outrageous behavior. Sharp-witted and sarcastic, he wrote offensive songs mocking the ship's officers and expressing his contempt for their authority. He amused himself by inventing new swear words and leading his peers on reckless and dangerous escapades. He frequently deserted his post. Still in his teens, John was briefly enslaved on an African plantation and nearly died. But instead of sobering him, the experience only served to strengthen his rebellious spirit.

After Newton regained his freedom, he served time in the British Navy and eventually became captain of his own slave ship. As a slave trader, Newton's heart grew even harder He earned a reputation for being a foul-mouthed, ill-tempered man, despised by his subordinates and superiors alike. He cared for no one but himself and sought nothing but his own pleasure.

Then one night, John Newton hit rock bottom. He had been punished for misbehavior by being publicly humiliated, beaten, and stripped of his rank. His attempts to regain his position had failed. No one cared to take up his cause. Now caught in a fierce storm, he came face to face with a gripping fear of death. As the waves pounded the ship and filled his cabin with water, terror filled Newton's heart. He fought desperately to save the ship, bailing water and plugging holes in the hull with the ship's sails, burlap bags, even his own clothing. As an experienced sailor, John knew he had little chance of survival. And he was not ready to face eternity.

Memories of his childhood came flooding back — the Bible verses and hymns his God-fearing mother had taught him, her prayers on his behalf. John tried to cry out to God for mercy, but he was stopped abruptly by the thought of how little he deserved it. How could he turn to God for help, when he had ignored Him for so long? John spent a harrowing night in deep soul-searching.

The following day, the storm subsided. Miraculously, the battered ship found safe harbor. It was then, Newton said, that he became convinced that "there is a God that hears and answers prayers." He discovered anew the love of God expressed in Scripture:

"God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved" (John 3:16,17).

In the midst of the storm, Newton's eyes had been opened. He realized that he was a sinner, in need of a Savior. For the first time, he understood the meaning of God's grace. Repenting of the sins of his past, he surrendered his life to God completely. In an instant, he became a new man.

Years later, as he reflected on his experience, Newton penned the words:

Amazing Grace — how sweet the sound — that saved a wretch like me! I once was lost but now am found, was blind but now I see.

'Twas grace that taught my heart to fear, and grace my fears relieved; how precious did that grace appear the hour I first believed!

Through many dangers, toils and snares I have already come; 'tis grace hath brought me safe thus far, and grace will lead me home.

At the age of 39, the former slave trader became a pastor. He dedicated the rest of his life to sharing with others the good news of the gospel: that Jesus Christ had come to 'seek and save the lost.' (Luke 19:10) Newton led the abolitionist movement in Great Britain, exposing the evils of slavery and fighting to outlaw the vile trade he had once engaged in. In his epitaph, he summed up his life this way:

John Newton, Clerk,

Once an infidel and libertine, A servant of slaves in Africa, Was by the rich mercy of our Lord and Saviour

Jesus Christ, Preserved, restored, pardoned, And appointed to preach the faith he Had long laboured to destroy...

Like Newton, you, too, can experience God's amazing grace — no matter who you are or how much you have sinned. You can begin your own life-changing relationship with Jesus Christ. You might pray something like this:

"Dear God, I realize that I have been lost in my sins and blind to your truth. I know now that you sent your Son to die on the cross for me—to pay the penalty for my sin. Please forgive me. Come into my life and change me by your grace. In Jesus' Name, Amen."

one of my friends sent this mail to me../... i found a lesson in this../...

Flat Tyres
Four college students had a week of exams coming up. They decided to party instead. Their biggest exam was on Wednesday and they showed up telling the professor that their car had broken down the night before due to a very flat tyre when they were travelling together and they needed a bit more time to study. The professor told them that they could have another day to study. That evening, boys studied all night until they were sure that they knew just about everything. Arriving to class the next morning, each boy was told to go to separate classrooms to take the exam. Each shrugged and went to different parts of the building. As each sat down, they read the first question. "For 5 marks, explain the contents of an atom." At this point, they thought that this was going to be a piece of cake, and answered the question with ease. Then, the test continued. "For 95 marks, tell me which tyre it was."

dont ask me whether i learned to say true lies as a whole./...

service learning

We all have come across project works and assignments, somewhere in our academics. A variant of this known as service learning is an interesting idea, in which the assignments are in fact services to the community. As they say, “What an idea!, Sirji”. The idea is never outside academics and does not divert from the normal curriculum. The academic content based on real life situations prove students to increase their capacities in allied areas too. It even adds on the personality or character development of students, increasing their roles and responsibilities as a good citizen, making high use of character education.

the new generation bluffsz../...

i wonder what they could do... perhaps, all these stores and mega festivals could bring nothing that would last, at least for me. i often heard many to promise a night with a star. what great was that? the wise keepsz away. for me i think that seeing is more than believing, but its just more, but not the end. what could your favourite star do for you? of course, it would be nice to spend a while at working with the star. i wish i meet my star some time in the future, to work along, and not to just waste away.

my lost wordz.././/...

MY LOST WORDS

None of my words will ever reach you
It has lost its power
The energy that sensed a few
Times that you enjoyed the giver
The love that you never searched for
Has elapsed within my heart beating sore
Its your turn to play the revenge role
Hurling me over and me flying above

Stars in your dreams counted my grieves
You saw them to see me no more
A span of life too short to brief
All of them came which my thoughts bore
The thoughts… the words that couldn't go any long
Here I fall head-along
Down to the earth with the sky above
Breaking the branches of a growing tree

Can I ever feel your breath so hot
Had I ever known you beforehand
Right is wrong that brought a blot
It has changed my name and my land
Straight into my inner being has it gone yonder
Till now I breathe the air I shared with wonder
Its over and I do see the struck bundle
Ebin is over wrapped neatly and tied tight…

Palm Islands of Dubai

The only of its kind on earth. The Palm Islands in Dubai are the three largest artificial islands in the world. You wont be able to believe its beauty unless you behold it with your eyes. Its a strip of island. The concept of an island over here is entirely different. This is not at all natural, but purely human-made. They are known by the names; The Palm Jumeirah, The Palm Jebel Ali and The Palm Deira. The Islands are located off the coast of The United Arab Emirates in the Persian Gulf and will add 520 km of beaches to the city of Dubai.

Nakheel properties, a private property developer group in the emirates are the brains behind the heavens on earth. The Dutch dredging and marine contractor Van Oord, one of the world's specialists in land reclamation has been hired for the celebrated work.

tips on listening...

Listening has been viewed hitherto as a passive skill. The recent approaches in language teaching have proven this is wrong. The learner should be actively involved in the communication as listening skills demand it. Listening skills require adequate knowledge in both linguistic and non linguistic spheres .the linguistic competence of the learner helps in dividing sounds into meaningful units when the process of linguistic extraction of sounds fail, there is a failure in the extraction of meaning. So, focusing on the mental process, Listening comprehension, a step further, is an active process which includes the aural input, the construction of meaning from the message, and the relation the message has to the existing knowledge.

the music that spills within./...

I wish there was someone who would make a sense out of sounds. Till this moment, i'm not sure why people dont have good ears. Some of them do have. but the large population of whom i may refer to have not bothered much to have a sound sense over sounds.
The unwanted sound buzzes from the TVs are just irritating me. Last evening when i just walked out of my room, i felt the core of disturbance. The person who sits before the device does not realise the frequency of another who may have been in a different mood. Irrespective of the mood, the volume if kept so high, to avoid a single minute where the mood is not left unpublished.
There is no choice in terms of the sounds that the commercials produce now a days. The other day i offered one of the big shots at town some good sound patterns, but he just flatly refused, saying that he gets sound patterns for free over the internet. He was not even bothered about the quality or discomfort level which it promised.

hearing./..the base to listening..//./..

Hearing is a major factor and it is basic to the listening skills, perhaps even more to language learning itself. It is the imitation of what is heard that is produced over speech. A person who hears well may also be able to speak well. While studying hearing, voice, speech, language, social emotional functions and behaviour, we may find that ear is of importance during the infancy stage of early childhood of an individual there is an intense and continuous learning process that takes place based upon listening and movement levels. It has been found that the foetus begins to learn through listening its mothers voice which it senses within the womb. The range and the sound frequency of the mother’s language is exposed to the foetus and gradually the ear get set to the frequency. When the baby goes further it is difficult or less possible to hear other frequencies. This makes language learning a difficult task.

Auroville Language Lab

There is a Language Lab at Auroville, Pondicherry, which uses modern technology and the various other devices to help adults and youngsters in language learning. around ten languages are being given training here. It is the one and only Language Lab in Pondicherry, situated about six from the heart of Pondicherry, towards Kuilapalayam. It would be nice if youngsters visit this place.
