Flat Tyres

Four college students had a week of exams coming up. They decided to party instead. Their biggest exam was on Wednesday and they showed up telling the professor that their car had broken down the night before due to a very flat tyre when they were travelling together and they needed a bit more time to study. The professor told them that they could have another day to study. That evening, boys studied all night until they were sure that they knew just about everything. Arriving to class the next morning, each boy was told to go to separate classrooms to take the exam. Each shrugged and went to different parts of the building. As each sat down, they read the first question. "For 5 marks, explain the contents of an atom." At this point, they thought that this was going to be a piece of cake, and answered the question with ease. Then, the test continued. "For 95 marks, tell me which tyre it was."

service learning

We all have come across project works and assignments, somewhere in our academics. A variant of this known as service learning is an interesting idea, in which the assignments are in fact services to the community. As they say, “What an idea!, Sirji”. The idea is never outside academics and does not divert from the normal curriculum. The academic content based on real life situations prove students to increase their capacities in allied areas too. It even adds on the personality or character development of students, increasing their roles and responsibilities as a good citizen, making high use of character education.
